A Great Consignment Store on California’s Central Coast Jet Set Bohemian
Posted on April 6th, 2010 No comments
And here’s the recent shoe selection at Jet Set Bohemian. Excluding boots, nothing was marked over $50, and all the shoes were in nice to new condition. Here are my new favorite shoes!
Recently, I’ve found myself at Jet Set Bohemian (8049 Soquel Drive, Aptos, CA, 831-685-3156) anytime I’m on the Central Coast. Aptos is conveniently located just south of Santa Cruz and north of Monterey on California Highway 1. A few months ago I saw a perfect pair of Campus boots there for $80; it was not meant to be since the size was a 9 and I wear a 7.5. Then on a recent trip, I spotted these beautiful, and apparently never worn, Loeffler Randall shoes. The price marked was $35 (what a deal!), but when I went to buy the shoes the price was reduced to $26 since the item had not sold in 30 days! How I love a good consignment store!
I have a long list of shoes I dream of finding significantly discounted during an incredible sale. The list includes Frye’s Campus boots, Chanel’s quilted ballet flats, and almost anything by Loeffler Randall.

Laser Cut Shoes Burberry
Posted on April 4th, 2010 No comments
I can’t help but find the whole effect to be rather charming. If that qualifies my taste as a little over the top, I can live with that. When I checked online, I found it was also available in a both peep-toe pump and a ballerina flat.
Another peek-a-boo, window-paned shoe with a little more color subtlety than the Cavalli. This time the cutouts are flirting with the signature Burberry plaid and successfully abstracting it in the process!
So, while I could never justify $700+ on sale for this particular variation, the last 3 years have seen more companies entering into the laser-cut detail arena. This, to my mind, is a good thing.
I was reminded of this shoe the other day at Nordstrom Seattle when I saw this shoe on display in the Shoe Salon area:
And, while the color contrast of the rainbow backing fabric was too busy for some people, the flawless detail of the leather with it’s peakaboo cutouts has never lost it’s charm to me. I almost forgot to breath when I first saw this shoe; you just don’t forget when you have that kind of gut reaction to something. Oh, and there was a matching roll clutch…just amazing.
I have been a huge fan of laser cut shoe detail since I first encountered this Cavalli T7711 shoe several years ago (‘07).

Kenneth Cole Happy Birthday
Posted on March 31st, 2010 No comments
To celebrate I am going to put the above shoe in my Zappos shopping cart. I may even buy them. Does anyone else do that? Put a shoe in the cart and let them sit a while?Kenneth Cole shoes are mid priced and for their price, they are a fairly good buy. Here are some Kenneth Cole shoes for today.
He and his wife Maria Cuomo are very supportive of several charities and organizations and has been very public in his support of AIDS awareness and research since 1985. He is known for his socially concious and provocative ad campaigns from his “We all have AIDS” campaign to the current “We all walk in different shoes.” campaign.
Kenneth Cole will have 56 candles on his birthday cake today. I am fairly impressed with Kenneth Cole Productions. It was founded in 1982 by Kenneth Cole. Wanting to preview his line of shoes at Market Week at New York’s Hilton Hotel, but couldn’t afford the purchase of a hotel room to display his items, Kenneth asked about parking a trailer two blocks from the Hilton Hotel. When told that permits for trailers were only granted to utility and production companies, Cole changed the name of his company from Kenneth Cole Incorporated to Kenneth Cole Productions, then applied for a permit to film the full-length film, “The Birth of a Shoe Company”. In two and a half days, Kenneth Cole Productions sold forty thousand pairs of shoes, while chronicling the beginning of the company on film. Since then he hasn’t looked back.

Tommy Hilfiger Happy Birthday
Posted on March 31st, 2010 No comments
Here are some Tommy shoes for you today. In March 2000 about 20 companies settled a class-action suit by Saipan garment workers, who claimed mistreatment. These companies have manufacturing in Saipan, which is a territory of the United States. The lables can say “Made in the USA” but they don’t have to follow the US labor laws. Tommy Hilfiger Corp was one of those twenty companies.
Tommy eventually landed in New York and opened up a clothing design house in 1984. It seemed like we saw Tommy Hilfiger clothing everywhere. His clothing popularity peaked in the late 1990’s, and he sold the company to an investment firm in 2006 for $1.6 billion, but just this month Phillips-Van Heusen bought Tommy Hilfiger Corporation for $3 billion.
Tommy was born in Elmira, New York. His parents wanted him to be an engineer, only he had other ideas. Instead of going to college in 1969, he picked up a retail job at a local downtown Elmira store. He would go into New York, purchase clothing, customize them, and resell them in this store. The store eventually became a casualty of city growth to the suburbs. It was bulldozed to make room for the Elmira Jackals hockey arena.

UGG Boots: Stay Fashionable and Warm in Fall and Winter
Posted on March 11th, 2009 No commentscheoct09 asked:
When winter weather arrives, the choice must sometimes be made between fashion and comfort — especially when it comes to footwear. Warm shoes and boots aren’t always fashionable, and fashionable boots tend to not be well-insulated. As the temperature drops, no one wants to choose between looking good and having warm, dry feet. But with UGG boots, it’s entirely possible to stay warm and comfortable in the fall and winter without having to sacrifice fashion.
There is a wide variety of UGG boots with plush, comfortable linings that keep your feet warm and dry. And with so many fashionable styles to choose from, can have a cozy pair of UGGs for every outfit.
UGG Boots for Fall and Winter Wear
While any boots can be worn during the fall and winter, not all boots are going to be comfortable or safe when the weather turns bad. Some boots may be made of thin materials, or may not provide sufficient insulation to keep the feet warm when the temperature starts to plummet. Other boots have too much insulation, and cause your feet to sweat all day.
Boots with slick soles or insufficient traction can be dangerous in the snow or ice, and can lead to slips or falls. And soles that are too thick can feel rigid, and make it difficult to walk.
To stay safe and warm during the fall and the winter, it’s important to wear boots that have proper insulation, and provide the traction you need to stay secure and sturdy in bad weather. UGG boots offer the perfect balance of insulation and traction, pairing comfort and fashion seamlessly.
Tall UGG Boots
The Classic Tall series of boots provides comfort and style, even in the worst of winter weather. With genuine sheepskin linings, your feet will stay dry and warm, no matter how cold or wet the weather is.
Other tall boots include the Beacon and Wrangell, sheepskin-lined men’s boots with rugged rubber soles designed to provide excellent traction, even in inclement weather. All of UGG’s tall boots are designed to provide a comfortable fit that goes on easily.
Short UGG Boots
Short UGG boots are available as well, allowing those who don’t need the full coverage of a tall boot to enjoy the warmth and comfort of UGG’s winter weather protection. Boots like the Bailey Button and the Ultra Short provide the warmth and comfort of sheepskin linings in boots that only reach to the bottom of the calf. With leather uppers and rubber soles, many of these boots provide exceptional traction while keeping the classic good looks of UGG boots.
Mini UGG Boots
For those who prefer to wear short boots, UGG offers the Classic Mini. These mini boots are designed to cover just the foot and the ankle, much like tennis shoes. With the genuine sheepskin lining, these mini boots still offer the warmth and dryness that UGG boots are renowned for, and make a fashionable footwear statement too. While the Classic Mini may not be the right choice for harsh weather, they’re a great light-weight option for cold days.
Stylish UGG Boots
Not all UGG boots have the classic look of winter boots. As a fashionable alternative for women in the colder months, UGG created fashion lines such as the Caroline and Stella boots. These boots have the same sheepskin lining that is found in other UGG winter weather boots, but with heels to provide that extra touch of fashion. Other stylish varieties of UGG boots include the Cove and the Knightbridge, with soles that feature more secure grips and uppers with unique, stylish features.
UGG Boots for Children
Adults aren’t the only ones who can take advantage of the unique style and warm comfort of UGG’s boots. Children’s UGG boots such as the Classic Tall feature fun colors and prints, while Downtown UGGs are a stylish alternative for kids who need warm, reliable winter boots.
UGG boots for fall and winter are available for toddlers and infants as well. The Birch II is designed to offer additional traction and warmth to toddlers who are just learning how to walk, while infant boots such as the Boo give parents the confidence of knowing their baby’s feet are warm and dry throughout the fall and winter.
No matter how old you are, UGG boots keep you comfortable and stylish in the fall and winter. With the perfect amount of insulation and traction, you can feel cozy and secure in inclement weather. And with UGG’s cool, stylish designs, you don’t have to compromise practical comfort for fashion. Get ready for fall and winter in style this year with UGG boots. -
UGG Boots for Women: So Many Styles to Choose From
Posted on November 8th, 2008 No commentscheoct09 asked:
Shopping for women’s boots can be frustrating. Some brands only offer a few styles of boots for women, leading most women to think that their boot options are limited. And if you’re in the market for warm weather boots, your options can seem even slimmer. But when shopping for UGG boots, many women are surprised to find that there are a number of different styles to choose from, all of which are designed to be fashionable and warm.
No matter what kind of boots you’re shopping for, UGG offers several different designs and styles that complement a wide variety of outfits. As with all UGGs, these boots are practical, comfortable and stylish. Here are just a few of the fashion forward UGG boots for women.
Tall UGG Styles
There are a number of different tall UGG boots available for women, including the Classic Tall and the Knightsbridge. The Classic Tall is available in a variety of colors and prints, ranging from floral motifs to bold, solid colors. The Knightsbridge is a full-length boot with a zippered front, making it easy to put the boots on and take them off at the end of the day. When you’re rushing out the door for work or school, you don’t have to hassle with intricate, time-consuming laces.
The soles of these boots are designed to provide excellent traction and support for women on the go, while the interiors are lined with sheepskin to help keep their feet warm and dry in inclement weather. These boots are an excellent addition to your winter wardrobe.
Short UGG Styles
There are a number of short UGGs that have been designed to give women additional, stylish options when choosing a pair of boots. Instead of going all the way up the calf, short styles, like the Cove and Classic Mini only reach the ankle or bottom of the calf. Each of these styles offers the same quality craftsmanship and comfort as UGG’s tall boots, but with their own unique look. These versatile short boots a stylish, lightweight footwear option for cold days on the go.
Decorated UGG Styles
To complement your colorful and dynamic wardrobe, UGG offers a number of decorated boots. The Classic lines of women’s boots are available in a number of different printed designs, as are the Wallingford rain boots. Boots like the Caroline feature decorative buckles, while the Bailey Button and the Low Pro Button feature button closures to add a touch of style and convenience. Additionally, UGG’s Kona boots use decorative cord closures to allow the boot sides to be easily opened and closed while creating a look that will add instant style to any wardrobe. These boots are a great way to express your unique fashion sense without skimping on comfort.
Knitted UGG Boots
Not every boot design by UGG is made of leather; there are several styles of UGG boots for women that are knitted to create an absolutely unique look. Knitted boots such as the Cardy and the Argyle Knit provide the same great traction of other UGG boots by incorporating rubber soles while creating an entirely new level of comfort with the fully knitted uppers. These knitted boots are available in solid colors and stripes, and provide an entirely new level of comfort by wrapping the feet in a breathable, but protective knit. These knitted boots are designed to have a bit of a slouch to them, giving the woman who wears them a chic, but casual look.
Heeled UGG Boots
For women who want a bit of sophistication, UGG offers boots that feature high heels. These boots provide the same level of comfort and protection found in other UGG styles. Boots like the Caroline and the Stella have stylish heels that are less than 3” in height, creating the look of sophistication and style that some women prefer, without compromising the warmth and comfort of a full-length UGG boot.
UGG Winter Wear
While UGG offers a wide variety of stylish boots that can be worn year round, they also specialize in warm weather boots for harsh winter weather. The Knightsbridge, Swell Tall, Classic Short, and Elijo all feature a double-layer of sheepskin in the lining to provide exceptional warmth and to help keep your feet dry. The soles of these boots are designed to provide superior traction, even in slick ice and snow. As with all UGG boots, these winter weather boots are not only functional, but they are designed with style and fashion in mind. So there’s no need to sacrifice warmth and comfort for style.
No matter what kind of women’s boots you’re looking for, UGG has a vast selection of comfortable, stylish options that will keep you and your feet happy all year.
